Empire Safety Council Defensive Driving

Summer Yoga

Saturdays, July 19, 26, August 9, 16, 23, 30 (skips August 2)
Beginners: 9:20 - 10:20 am
Intermediate: 10:30 - 11:30 am

Register for ONE time slot only. Fee is $30 due at registration. Please bring a yoga mat or towel with you to each class. Registration begins June 19 for OB-EN residents, and on June 28 for non-residents, space permitting.

 


Adult CPR

Saturday, September 20
10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Lori Green, RN, Certified CPR instructor and former EMT will instruct you in the life-saving skills of CPR and the use of the AED. Certification is received upon completion of the 3 hour workshop. Fee is $35, checks payable to Lori Green. Registration began in August for OB-EN residents, and starts Sept. 6 for non-residents, space permitting.



Hiking Long Island

Tuesday, September 23
7:00 pm

Lee McAllister presents a slide-show and lecture about hiking opportunities around Long Island. The multimedia presentation will include geology, history (natural and human), flora, fauna and topographical features that make LI such an interesting place to hike at any season. Registration began in August for OB-EN residents, and begins Sept. 9 for non-residents, space permitting.


Introduction to eBay

Tuesday, September 30
6:30 - 8:30 pm

In this lecture and demonstration class, learn how to buy and sell items using eBay. Some of the topics covered are creating an account, checking reliability of sellers and buyers, online safety and much more. Registration began in August for OB-EN residents, and begins Sept.16 for non-residents, space permitting.


Charlie Chaplin: Birth of the “Tramp” -- The Mutual Years

7:00 - 8:30 pm

2014 marks the centennial of not only Charlie Chaplin’s first appearance on screen, but also the creation of his “Tramp” character. Film historian Philip Harwood will focus on one of Chaplin’s most creative periods: his years at Mutual Studios in 1916-1917. Registration begins Sept. 2 for all residents.


How to Get Into -- and Pay Discounted Prices for -- the Best Colleges in the U.S.

Andrew Lockwood, a college finance and admissions strategist and author, will conduct this workshop for the parents of college-bound teens. Registration begins Sept. 6 for OB-EN residents, and on Sept. 22 for non-residents, space permitting.


How to be an eBay Seller!

Learn how to set up an eBay seller account, how to describe your items, how much it will cost, how to get a picture online and much more. Registration begins Sept. 7 for OB-EN residents, and on Sept. 23 for non-residents, space permitting.

That’s a Smash! Great Producers of the ‘60s and ‘70s

This is a fast-paced, multimedia program that profiles four of the most important record producers of the ‘60s and ‘70s. Sharing rare audio/video clips and anecdotes, the program explores how creative producers made brilliant choices that influenced artists, their incredible albums and the musical tastes of an entire generation. Registration begins Sept. 15 for all residents.


Laughs @ the Library

Join comedian Mark Brier for an afternoon filled with jokes, stories, anecdotes & impressions. The audience is invited to share their favorite joke or just come to enjoy Mark’s wholesome humor. Registration begins Sept. 26 for OB-EN residents, and on Oct. 12 for non-residents, space permitting.


Long Island Ghost Stories

7:00 pm

Included in this spooky 90-minute multimedia presentation are tales based on local folklore, including stories about the grave of Hatchet Mary, the witch of Sweet Hollow Road, the ghosts of Raynham Hall and more. Teens are welcome. Registration begins Sept. 28 for OB-EN residents, and on Oct. 14 for non-residents, space permitting.



Mah-Jongg

Wednesdays, October 29, November 5 & 12
6:30 pm

Want to learn the Mah-Jongg or sharpen your skills? Master player Jacqui Palatnik will introduce you to the tiles and basic moves of this magical game.
